Hawks Hand Highlanders First E8 Loss

ONEONTA, NY – In a rematch of last year's Empire 8 conference championship game, the Hartwick Hawks defeated the Houghton Highlanders, 3-1.

The Hawks remained undefeated in conference play, while the Houghton loss represents the first blemish on their conference record.

Hartwick scored a pair of goals less than one minute apart to take an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter.  But with less than 15 seconds to play in the same quarter, Houghton's Jace Hunzinger pulled the Highlanders back within a goal with her eighth tally of the season.

The game would remain, 2-1, until midway through the fourth quarter, when the Hawks added an insurance goal by Ashley Tricarico in the 53rd minute of play.
