UTICA, N.Y. -- Houghton men's tennis improved to 5-0 in the Empire 8 Conference and 8-10 overall after an 8-1 win over Utica University on Friday.
The Highlanders have now won 26-straight E8 regular season matches since losing to Stevens on April 7, 2018. They are 27-1 in conference play since the start of the 2017-18 campaign.Â
After a close loss in first doubles, the Highlanders claimed victories in the rest of the matches against the Pioneers.
Levi Webb and
Nolan Zach teamed up for an 8-3 win in second doubles, while
Micah Schilke and
Adam Brown won 8-0 in third doubles.
Singles victories went to
Micah Schilke (first),
Levi Webb (second),
Jaimie Staerkle (third),
Nolan Zach (fourth),
Adam Brown (fifth) and
Isaac Little (sixth).
Houghton returns to action Saturday when they host E8 rival St. John Fisher at 2 p.m.
