Men's Tennis Downs Fisher 8-1 in E8 Action

The Houghton College Men's Tennis has continued it's extraordinary play in Empire 8 action with an 8-1 victory against St. John Fisher College. The win pushes the Highlanders' to 9-10  overall and 6-0 in E8 play. After a slow start yesterday, the Highlanders' came out ready to play grabbing all 3 doubles points to start the match. Jaimie Staerkle and Isaac Little (8-2) at first doubles, Nolan Zach and Levi Webb (8-3) at the second spot, and Micah Schilke and Adam Brown (8-0) at the third flight all secured decisive wins. In singles play, Schilke would grab a 6-1, 6-3 at the first singles position to get the Highlanders' on the board, and Jaimie Staerkle would clinch the match with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at third singles. Other victories would come from Levi Webb 7-5, 6-1, Isaac Little 7-5, 6-4, and Adam Brown 6-0, 6-1 at second, sixth, and fifth singles respectively.

"The men came to play today and really dominated play from start to finish," Head Coach Zach Shilvock said post match. "I am particularly proud of Adam Brown for a clinical performance, and Levi Webb and Nolan Zach for avenging their second doubles defeat this time around. Our team is finding their best form here late in the season, which is exactly what we want."

The Highlanders' will look to remain undefeated in conference play as they close out their regular season against Alfred U. on Tuesday and rival Nazareth College Saturday.
