Mechanicsburg, PA – Hayden Williamson,
Dan Tyson, and
Malachi Yeager traveled to Messiah University for the Heptathlon and Decathlon, respectively, on Thursday and Friday. To our knowledge, Hayden is the first woman to compete in the Heptathlon in school history. This was also Dan and Malachi's first multi competition.
Hayden finished 14
th of 20 competitors. Her best events and finishes came in the high jump (4
th), 800m (7
th), and long jump (11
th). The other events that were contested were the 100HH, Shot Put, Javelin, 200m. "Hayden just loves to compete. It was a bit cold and rainy on Thursday, but I think she loved almost every bit of doing this multi competition. We are excited to see what she can do with more experience, in the future," commented Coach Hager.
Malachi had high hopes for his first multi, but unfortunately strained his hamstring in the first event, and was unable to finish the competition.
Dan Tyson learned many of the events in the last couple of weeks, but competed hard and set a good standard to build on. Dan's best events were finishing 6
th in the High Jump, and 10
th in the Long Jump. He finished 15
th out of 17 competitors, overall. "I really feel for Malachi. Circumstances haven't allowed him to get until a multi event until this point. He could have been towards the top of the standings, for sure. Dan is very raw, and I love the approach he has to competition. He's excited to learn and we will certainly be back in another multi."
