Box Score The Houghton College Women's Tennis team dropped their Spring home opener to Division II opponent Daemen College 9-0 Wednesday afternoon. In doubles play, Chloe Esch and Maddison Soth fell 8-2 at the first pairing, Tessa Brown and Marilynn Amborksi were defeated 8-2 at the second spot, and Hialeah Johnson and Allie Leary came up short 8-1. In singles play, Tessa Brown ended the evening with a tight defeat at the sixth singles spot. She battled back from a first set loss, but eventually fell 6-4, 3-6, 10-8. 

Head Coach Zach Shilvock shared his thoughts post match saying, "I was happy with the effort and fight from our team today. The spring is all about development with our ladies, and I am happy to see some improvement in our tennis against a very quality opponent. Daemen is a team we can learn a lot from, and hopefully we can keep building to be more competitive against a team like that in the future." 

The Highlanders will look to regroup against Allegheny College this coming Saturday at noon.
