HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton student-athlete Malcolm Smith has been named the Empire 8 Men's Indoor Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 13.

Smith put together a pair of impressive showings at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Saturday, setting set school records in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash events. Smith's 7.24 time 60-meter dash is the third fastest in the E8 this year, and his 22.58 result in the 200-meter sprint lands him in the second spot in the E8 this season.
