HOUGHTON, NY – The SUNY Geneseo Knights extended their winning streak to seven games on Wednesday evening, defeating the Houghton Highlanders, 8-0, and snapping Houghton's own six game winning streak.
The Knights lit up the scoreboard only 40 seconds into the game, in what would prove to be the game-winner.
Houghton kept it a one-goal game until early in the second quarter, when Geneseo scored back-to-back goals just over a minute apart.
The Highlanders again kept the Knights at bay for the remainder of the half, but Geneseo held a 3-0 lead at the break.
The second half belonged to Geneseo, as they scored three goals in the third quarter and two more in the final 15 minutes.
