PITTSFORD, NY – Sam Choate put away the eventual game-winning goal less than nine minutes into the second half, as the St. John Fisher Cardinals handed the Houghton Highlanders their first conference loss of the season, 3-1.
While the Highlanders held the Cardinals to only seven first-half shots, Houghton managed only one shot over the first 30 minutes, and Aubrey Greib put Fisher on the board first, knocking a shot past the Houghton goalie in the 13
th minute of play.
Houghton would pull within a goal in the 52
nd minute, when
Cedar Smith found
Elzandie Du Plessis for her second goal of the season.
Fisher would add a final goal just over two minutes later and withstand the increased pressure from the Houghton offense over the remaining minutes of the game.
