Cardinals Hand Highlanders First E8 Loss of the Season

PITTSFORD, NY – Sam Choate put away the eventual game-winning goal less than nine minutes into the second half, as the St. John Fisher Cardinals handed the Houghton Highlanders their first conference loss of the season, 3-1.

While the Highlanders held the Cardinals to only seven first-half shots, Houghton managed only one shot over the first 30 minutes, and Aubrey Greib put Fisher on the board first, knocking a shot past the Houghton goalie in the 13th minute of play.

Houghton would pull within a goal in the 52nd minute, when Cedar Smith found Elzandie Du Plessis for her second goal of the season.

Fisher would add a final goal just over two minutes later and withstand the increased pressure from the Houghton offense over the remaining minutes of the game.
