PITTSFORD, NY – Sam Choate put away the eventual game-winning goal less than nine minutes into the second half, as the St. John Fisher Cardinals handed the Houghton Highlanders their first conference loss of the season, 3-1.
 
While the Highlanders held the Cardinals to only seven first-half shots, Houghton managed only one shot over the first 30 minutes, and Aubrey Greib put Fisher on the board first, knocking a shot past the Houghton goalie in the 13^th minute of play.
 
Houghton would pull within a goal in the 52^nd minute, when Cedar Smith found Elzandie Du Plessis for her second goal of the season. 
 
Fisher would add a final goal just over two minutes later and withstand the increased pressure from the Houghton offense over the remaining minutes of the game.

The Highlanders travel to Albany on Saturday, October 15 to take on the Russell Sage College Gators at 1:00 p.m.  In the three previous years that Sage has had a field hockey program, the Highlanders have won all three meetings between the teams, including a 7-0 victory last October.
