Houghton, NY– The Houghton College Women's soccer team took a break from Empire 8 play to face the Pitt-Bradford Panthers on Tuesday Night.
From the beginning whistle the Highlanders took control of the game and it was nothing but highlights for the Highlanders. Rileigh Studley, Moriah Steffen, Sarah Potocki and Anna Kalivoda all found the back of the net before the half, giving the Highlanders a 4-0 lead heading into the locker room.'
The Highlanders picked up exactly where they left off as the second half began, finding their first goal of the half just two minutes in off the foot of Sierra Dibble giving the highlanders a 5-0 lead with 43 minute remaining. This big lead would not stop the Highlanders from executing as they Anna Kalivoda and Sarah Potocki both were able to find their second goals of the match. With their 7-0 lead and the confidence that their lead would hold, Coach Elsaesser began subbing and giving her bench players opportunity to contribute and learn a little from live play. Ultimately the Highlanders would take this 7-0 win as the clock expired and the horn blared over Burke Field.
With the win, the Highlanders rise to 4-2 ias they prepare to resume Empire 8 play on Saturday against Elmira.
