Houghton, NY – The Houghton College Field Hockey team dropped a conference matchup against Nazareth College on Thursday night, 3-1.
Nazareth got the scoring started when Lydia Dewart scored off of a Marrisa Berghorn assist just shortly after a penalty corner opportunity presented itself in the first quarter.
Houghton looked to respond a couple minutes later, but Caitlin Jenning's shot bounced off the post. Jennings would get another chance later in the first quarter as would teammate Hannah Daniels, but neither Highlander could find the net.
Less than three minutes into the second quarter, Nazareth would extend their lead to 2-0 on a Grace Kelleher goal, and the Golden Flyers would take a two-goal lead into the half.
The Golden Flyers would strike one more time early in the 4th quarter with a Caroline Desautels goal before Zoey Kasper was able to find the net for the Highlanders to take the score to 3-1.
