HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Three members of the Houghton College field hockey program have been named to 2021 Empire 8 Field Hockey All-Conference Teams, in voting by the E8 coaches announced today.

Hannah Daniels and Caitlin Jennings each were named to the All-E8 First Team, with Daniels also earning All-E8 Defensive Player of the Year Accolades. Zoey Kasper was named to the All-E8 Second Team.

Now a three-time All-Empire 8 selection (first team, 2021; second team, 2018 and 2019), Daniels had a pair of defensive saves for the Highlanders and spearheaded a Houghton defense that surrendered just 13 goals in six games this spring.

Jennings has been named all-conference in each of her four seasons as a Highlander. This is her third selection to the first team (2017, 2019, 2021). She was a second team honoree in 2018. This spring, Jennings started all six games, scoring one goal and recording a team-high 14 shots (9 on goal). She had one game-winning goal and also registered two defensive saves.

Kasper was another key component of the Houghton defense. She tied for the team lead with two goals on three shots and led the team in defensive saves with three on the campaign.

In addition, Daniels was Houghton's selection to the 2021 Empire 8 Field Hockey Sportswoman of the Year Team. One member from each institution was named to the team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.
