HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Houghton men's soccer improved to 3-1 on the season after a 4-0 senior night win over Alfred on Monday night.
Seniors
Julius Klohr (two goals) and Dan Myers (one goal, one assist) led the way for the Highlanders. Fellow seniors
Kenneth Estep and
Nicholas D'Angelo each had an assist, while freshman
Andy Loomis scored the first of his career.
It took a while for the Highlanders to get going, with the Saxons controlling the pace early and putting three of their first six shots on goal in the first 14 minutes. Senior
Caleb Loew stopped all three shots that were on frame. Houghton was able to steady themselves by the midway point of the half and Klohr delivered the only goal the home team would need in the 37th minute, taking a pass from D'Angelo and slotting it past the Saxons keeper.
Klohr would score again in the 54th minute to make it 2-0. After another 15 minutes of scoreless play, Houghton scored twice in a 54-second span to put the game away. Loomis tallied first and Myers converted a penalty kick in the 70th minute.

COACH'S CORNER
"After a slow start I thought the team really played some good soccer for a lot of the game tonight. There were a lot of positives to take away. It was great to honor the seniors and even better to see a couple of them score. We also had a few guys making their first collegiate appearance. Really happy with the response to our loss last week." -- Head Coach
