HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Houghton men's soccer broke a three-game losing streak to Nazareth with a convincing 3-0 win over the Golden Flyers on Thursday at Burke Field.
The win gives the Highlanders a 4-1 overall record and a 3-1 mark in E8 play.
The Highlanders scored twice in the game's first 15 minutes on tallies from
Logan Schrock and
Raphael Wence to put the visitors on their heels. Houghton controlled play throughout the half and limited Nazareth to few dangerous scoring chances. Schrock made the score 3-0 with his second of the game in the 36th minute.
The Golden Flyers came out stronger in the second half and shifted the momentum their way early. But despite a stronger push into the attacking third, they weren't able to create many chances to threaten Houghton keeper
Caleb Loew.
