Highlanders Edged 1-0 in 2OT.

Houghton, NY – The Houghton College Field Hockey team came up short in a thrilling double overtime game against Hartwick College on Sunday.

The Highlanders stepped onto Burke Field for intercollegiate competition for the first time in over 500 days. This game also marked Goal Keeper Sofia Gildemeister's field hockey debut.

The reigning Empire 8 Champs kept the Highlander defense busy the entire afternoon. COACH'S CORNER
"It feels great to be back and the effort we put out today as a team makes it even sweeter. With a lot of new players in new positions, we relied heavily on the leadership and talent of our senior class to keep things organized and well paced. Jennings and Daniels kept us hanging in defensively with the help of Sofia who handled the pressure of today's contest with focus and game changing effort. Our offensive transition needs work, but I'm confident it will improve over time, so we can generate more shots and offensive penalty corners. Overall, I'm really pleased with the fight we put up with such a small squad against great competition."  -Coach Hannah Ogden
