HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton freshman student-athlete Amanda Jackson has been named the Empire 8 Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 21.

Jackson, a native of Roslyn, Pa. (Abington Senior High School) led the Highlanders in scoring with 19 points in each of their two games last week. Jackson drained nine 3-pointers during the week and averaged 2.5 boards and 2.0 steals per contest as the Highlanders beat Waynesburg on Friday before falling to Grove City on Saturday. She needed just 10 shots from the floor to reach her point total on Saturday, as she converted 5-of-7 shots from behind the arc.

The freshman has scored at least 19 points in three of Houghton's first four games. She leads the Highlanders at 17 points per game and has made 17 of 43 shots from long range (.395).
