Davie, Cross Lead Offensive Surge in Highlanders Win Over Chargers

HOUGHTON, NY – Bekah Davie and Deborah Cross each scored a pair of goals to lift the Houghton Highlanders past the visiting Lancaster Bible College Chargers, 6-1.

Sarah Retz put the Highlanders on the scoreboard early, depositing a pass from Molly Brizzell in the back of the cage in the fourth minute of play.

Houghton never looked back from that point, as Davie scored the first of her two goals just under seven minutes later and added the other just over five minutes into the second quarter, giving Houghton a 3-0 lead.

The Chargers trimmed the Houghton lead to two in the 25th minute on a goal by Haley Stahl, but Houghton answered just over 30 seconds later when Peyton Bentley scored her seventh goal of the season.

For the next 26 minutes the score would remain locked, 4-1, in favor of the Highlanders, but added insurance goals in the 52nd and 59th minutes, sealing the Houghton win, 6-1.
