Houghton, NY– The Houghton College Women's soccer team lost their road match 5-1 on Wednesday night against D'Youville.

The first half began fast as Maggie Leeds started the scoring off for the Saints with a goal in the 17^th minute. The Highlanders did not wait long to tie the game; Moriah Steffen was awarded a penalty shot in the 20^th minute which she coverted in order to tie the game 1-1. The Saints would however find another goal before the half, leaving the Highlanders with a first half deficit of 2-1 going into intermission. 
 
The Saints would have a very strong second half, finding three second-half goals from Noelle Coyle, Emma Russell, Bernas. The first goal came in the first three minutes of the second half off the foot of Coyle. In the 60th minute, Bernas knocked in a shot of her own to increase the lead to made it 4-1. In the 85^th minute, Russell found the back of the net for D'Youville's fifth goal of the match, giving the Saints a 5-1 lead as time ticked. The Highlanders were unable to get their offense going which inhibited them from getting many shots or goals in this match. 

With the loss, the Highlanders drop to 5-4-1 as they prepare to travel to Hartwick on Saturday to resume Empire 8 play.
