Houghton, NY– The Houghton College Men's soccer dropped their home game 4-0 against R.I.T on Tuesday night.
The first half began with the Tigers of R.I.T getting on the board in the 9th minute off the head of Adam Wuest which gave the Tigers a quick 1-0 lead. As Houghton began to try to dig themselves out of this hole, bad luck would strike leading to the second goal of the match, this time off the foot of Jaden Longdon, increasing the lead to 2-0 in favor of R.I.T. Again Houghton found itself on the defensive as a physical defensive play happened in the box, leading to a yellow card on Brice Bogna and a penalty kick for the Tigers. Alec Jackson would take the penalty kick and score, increasing the lead to 3-0 as the teams went to intermission.
The second half was dominated by R.I.T, keeping possession for the majority of the half until they were able to find the back of the net off the foot of David Merriman. With the 4-0 deficit looming in front of the Highlanders, they attempted to continue to get in scoring position to attempt to cut the lead. This however would not be in the cards for Houghton this match, ultimately falling 4-0 to the Tigers.
With the loss, the Highlanders drop to 4-7 on the year as they prepare to play Hartwick at home on Saturday.
