Houghton, NY– The Houghton College Women's soccer team was able to capture a 3-0 win in their road match against Cazenovia.
The first half proved to be a fairly even battle between the two teams with neither team able to gain a clear advantage over the other. This lead to a pretty even shot count for each team in the first half (HC-12, Caz-7) leaving the game scoreless for most of the half. This would not last as Sarah Potocki would find two goals in the final 10 minutes of the half off the assists from Moriah Steffen, giving the Highlanders a 2-0 lead going into he half.
The second half began seemed to have a defensive emphasis for Houghton as they were able to hold Cazenovia to only a single shot in the half which was wiped away by Megan Merrifield. Although the Highlanders stepped up their defense, they were not slacking offensively as they were able to shoot 13 times in the second half, one of which found the back of the net in the 80th minute off the foot of Sarah Potocki, giving her a hat trick for the night and the highlanders a 3-0 victory.
With the win, the Highlanders rise to 6-9-1 as they prepare for their last home game against Sage Saturday Evening.
