Houghton, NY– The Houghton College Women's soccer team dropped their final Empire with a 4-2 loss to the Gators of Sage.
The first half began with the Gators getting on the board in the 7th minute of the match from a penalty kick from Hallie Klosterman, giving the Gators a 1-0 lead early in the match. This was followed by another goal by Lydia Malkiewicz in the 16th minute, giving the gators a very quick 2-0 lead. The Highlanders would have several attempts but none would be successful as the half ended with Sage up 2 goals.
The second half was full of action with both teams finding the back of the net twice. Natalie Ricci and Amelia Geesler both found the net for the Gators while Natalie Milne and Rileigh Studley found the back of the net for the Highlanders. Ultimately the Gators walked away with a 4-2 win over the visiting Highlanders of Houghton.
With the loss, the Highlanders drop to 0-7-1 in Empire 8 play as their season concludes.
