Houghton, NY– The Houghton College Men's soccer team clinched a playoff birth with their road win over Alfred Wednesday night.
The first half was exciting and ultimately led to both teams getting on the board before the intermission. Andy Loomis and Gabriel Van Wyk both were able to score for the highlanders while Henry Smith found the back of the net for the Saxons. The Highlanders went into the half up 2-1 over Alfred.
The Second half was just as exciting as the first as William Moore scored for the Saxons to begin the half, tying the game at 2 with much time left to play. Both teams tried to gain an advantage and get their team the goal that would give them the victory; Julius Khlor found the back of the net for the Highlanders late in the game to lift them over the Saxons with a 3-2 victory.
With the win, the Highlanders clinch a playoff birth and will finish the season to see where they are seeded.
