Houghton, NY– The Houghton College Women's soccer team lost their home match against the Saxons of Alfred by a score of 3-0.
The first half started with the Saxons getting on the board in the second minute of the match of the foot of Claire Squicciarini, giving Alfred a 1-0 lead. As the game progressed, the Highlanders were able to get several shots on goal but none were able to find the back of the net. In the 23rd minute Katline Cartwright found the back of the net off the assist from Jacey Palmgreen. The Highlanders go into the half down 2-0.
Alyssa Smith scored a goal in the 56th minute of the match to begin the second half off the assist of Karah Landries. Houghton was able to attempt 4 shots in the second, but the Saxons' goalie erased all of these attempts. Ultimately the Highlanders fell to the Saxons 3-0.
With the loss, the Highlanders drop to 0-6-1 in empire 8 play
