Golden Eagles Pull Away Late to Defeat Highlanders

HOUGHTON, NY – A trio of fourth quarter goals pushed the Brockport Golden Eagles past the Houghton Highlanders on Tuesday night, 4-1.

Brockport opened the scoring less than three minutes into the game and continued to threaten throughout much of the first half, but the Houghton defense remained solid, allowing only the one first half goal.

The Highlanders created multiple opportunities within the opposing circle but managed only two shots in the first half.

The game remained a one goal advantage for the Golden Eagles until just over a minute into the final period when Kate Ziemba scored to put Brockport up by two.

Caitlin Jennings quickly answered for the Highlanders just over two minutes later, cutting the deficit to one.

While Houghton continued to create multiple scoring opportunities the rest of the way, Brockport capitalized on their counter attack, scoring goals on all three shots they took in the final period to pull away from the Highlanders.
