HOUGHTON, NY – Houghton men's soccer started its 2019 Empire 8 campaign with a 0-0 tie with Utica on Saturday at Burke Field.

The teams battled evenly throughout the 110 minutes of play. Ben Miller forced the Utica keeper into a save late in the first half, but Houghton's best opportunity may have come in the early minutes of the second half when Julius Klohr sent a shot wide from eight yards out. Houghton controlled most of the play for the majority of the second half, but Utica did have some opportunities late that Caleb Loew turned away.
