HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Houghton men's lacrosse found its rhythm early, pushing out to a 6-3 lead early in the second quarter. But the visiting SUNY Canton Roos battled back to take a 16-14 win in the Highlanders' home opener Saturday at Burke Field.
Nathan Anderson scored four times and
Jonathan Mayer tallied two goals and two assists as the Highlanders took an 8-6 lead at the half.
After the teams traded goals to start the second half, the Roos scored seven-straight to take a 14-9 lead just two minutes into the fourth quarter. When the Highlanders finally found their offense, it was too late, as it seemed each Houghton score was met by a response from the visitors.
