Houghton Men's Tennis Scores Second 9-0 Win of the Season
Houghton men's tennis came out strong against opponent PSU Behrend in doubles play on Tuesday March 19th. After taking both first and second doubles without dropping a game, the Highlander's third singles (Ethan Yung and Ethan Baker) held onto a close 8-5 victory to send Houghton into singles with a dominating 3-0 lead. Louis-Guillaume Garcia made quick work of his number one singles match, claiming a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Behrend Junior Noah Colvin. Number two Zachary Shilvock clinched the win for the Highlanders with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Mike Duckett. Freshman Matthew Cicero rounded out the day with a hard fought 6-6, 6-4 win against Senior Lonny Diaz.
Coach McGraner commented - "The men's team was well-focused, motivated, and energetic today. It just felt right out there. Everyone was pretty dialed-in and even in the moments where we stumbled for a minute, we were able to quickly catch ourselves and reverse the momentum. It was a good day."
The Highlanders resume play at home on March 27th at 4:00PM against DII opponent Daemen College.
