HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Houghton men's soccer moved one game closer to a program record with its fifth tie of the season. The Highlanders played to a 0-0 draw with St. John Fisher on Saturday in front of a large Homecoming crowd.
The Highlanders controlled most of the play through the first 45 minutes, but it was the Cardinals who produced more scoring chances, forcing keeper
Caleb Loew into three first-half saves.
Fisher continued to press the Highlanders in the second half, but neither team would see many dangerous scoring opportunities until late in the half.
Josiah Kratz,
Levi Kennel and
Aldo Rico just missed on shot attempts, while
Julius Klohr sent two shots straight at the Fisher keeper.
Fisher just missed high on a header late in the first OT and Houghton's
Daniel Myers sent a shot high with 40 seconds remaining in the contest.

COACH'S CORNER
"Today was a frustrating game for us. I don't think we reached the level we know we can and it's hard to win games in this conference when that happens. I thought Fisher were organized and deserved their point."-- Head Coach
Bobby McColl
