Golden Flyers Score Three-Unanswered Goals to Beat Highlanders Field Hockey

ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth Golden Flyers scored three unanswered goals, one in each of the first three quarters, to overcome an early one-goal deficit and defeat their visiting conference foe Houghton Highlanders, 3-1.

Houghton came out quick, putting up six early shots and scoring the first goal of the match in the ninth minute when freshman Peyton Bentley put away her fifth goal of the year.

The Golden Flyers wasted little time in responding, tying the game with only 15 second remaining in the quarter when Caroline DeSautels received a pass from Alexandra Livesey and beat the Houghton keeper.

Nazareth then began to take control of the offensive end, outshooting the Highlanders over the final three quarters, 20-1.  It appeared, however, that the Houghton defense would remain intact, until the Golden Flyers final broke through with the go-ahead goal with less than a minute to play in the first half.

With time winding down in the third quarter, Nazareth added an insurance goal when Bailey Selman put away her seventh tally of the year.
