CORTLAND, NY – The SUNY Cortland Red Dragons scored the eventual game-winning goal in the first quarter, then added two more in the second, on their way to a 3-0 win over the visiting Houghton Highlanders on Wednesday afternoon.
Cortland created several opportunities early, eventually cracking the Houghton defense in the eighth minute when Hannah Burchell scored the opening goal off a penalty corner.
Houghton threatened toward the end of the quarter, earning a pair of penalty corners of their own, but failed to convert.
Cortland leading-scorer, Molly Quinlan, gave the Red Dragons some breathing room in the second, scoring a pair of goals in 23
rd and 30
th minutes.
