Highlanders Earn Third Win of Season

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Caleb Kaiss scored the game-winning goal with just under two minutes remaining in the first half as Houghton men's soccer took a 2-1 win over Keuka College at Burke Field on Tuesday.

The winning goal came just two minutes after the game was halted for 30 minutes due to lightning in the area.

The Wolves got on the board first, converting a penalty kick in the 26th minute, to go up 1-0. But Ben DiCrasto pulled the Highlanders even with a hard 15-yard shot that ricocheted off a Keuka player and past the keeper. Nine minutes later the teams were forced to clear the field as hard rains and lightning descended on the area.

The wet ball played a part in the second Highlander goal as Julius Klohr put in a short pass from the left to Kaiss, who sent a quick low shot toward the net. The Wolves keeper seemed to gather the shot in, but it found its way under his body, through his hands and into the back of the net.

The Highlander defense was under pressure throughout the second half, but they were equal to the task and turned away every Keuka attack.
