ALBANY, N.Y. – Houghton women's basketball lost on the road, 61-66, to the Gators of the Sage Colleges on Saturday afternoon.
Cori Beck would be the first to score, putting 2 points on the board with a layup within the first 20 seconds of the game. She would go on to assist
Emily Swanson for another 2 points before leaving the game with an injured ankle after playing for 11 minutes in the first half.
The Highlanders would exit the court for halftime up 26-19. Coming into the third quarter, Houghton would increase the gap over the Gators to 12 points (35-23); however, Sage would go on to score the next 15 points and take the lead (38-35) with less than a minute-and-a-half in the quarter remaining. By the end of the quarter, the Highlanders would trail behind the Gators, 39-41.
Early in the fourth quarter, the Highlanders would rally, scoring 8-straight points and would take back the lead (47-44). However, Sage would go on to outscore Houghton with a little over 5 minutes left and hold onto the lead for the remainder of the game.
