GRANTHAM, PA – The Houghton Highlanders ran into another pair of tough competitors, falling in straight sets to the Cabrini Cavaliers and the Messiah Falcons at today's Messiah tri-match.
Cabrini jumped out to victories in the first two sets before Houghton made a run in the third. With the Cavaliers leading, 23-22,
Brooke Lewandowski slammed home a set from
Ally Bittinger to tie the game. Cabrini, however, would pick up the next two points to end the Houghton rally.
In the second set against Messiah, with the set tied, 20-20, the Falcons capitalized on a kill and a Houghton attack error. The Highlanders draw within one on a kill by
Anna Zirilli, but the Falcons would reel off three straight kills to close the set. Messiah would take the final set to win the match.
