Ducks Offense Takes Down Highlanders

HOBOKEN, NJ – The Stevens Ducks took advantage of three first half goals to defeat the Houghton Highlanders on Saturday morning, 5-2.

The Ducks scored the opening goal in the ninth minute and added another with less than five minutes remaining in the half.

Houghton responded, cutting the lead to one, when Caitlin Jennings scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season on a back-handed shot from just inside the circle.

Stevens, however, would answer just over 30 seconds later to take a 3-1 lead into the break.

The Ducks would tack on another in the opening minutes of the second, but Nicole Jennings cut the lead in half with her sixth goal in the 66th minute.

That would be as close as the Highlanders would come, as Stevens added an insurance goal just over three minutes later and held off the Highlander attack for the remainder of the game.
