ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Houghton men's tennis wrapped up the fall portion of their 2018-19 schedule with a 9-0 loss at Division II Roberts Wesleyan College on Tuesday.
The Highlanders put in a strong showing in the three doubles matches to start the day but couldn't pull out any victories. The second doubles tandem of
Dylan Scherer and
Michael Cha lost 8-7 (7-3), while
Jake Fisler and
Louis-Guillaume Garcia lost a tight one in first doubles, 8-6.
Fisler and Scherer also played strong in their first and third singles matches, respectively.
"Today was a tough one because the score didn't quite reflect the match dynamic," said Head Coach
Tonya McGraner. "We had some chances we didn't capitalize on, especially in doubles. But all in all we had some good matches."
The Highlanders will now re-group as they prepare for the competitive spring season, which kicks off with a home match vs. Allegheny College on Saturday, February 9.
