ALFRED, NY—Brittany Lenart and
Amber Edwards led a well-balanced Houghton Highlander attack, combining for 25 points to help defeat the Alfred University Saxons in the first Empire 8 matchup of the year, 66-40.
Eleven Highlanders found their way into the scoring column in a display of selflessness that has become a Highlander women's trademark.
Houghton opened the scoring with a pair of free throws by
Brittany Lenart and never relinquished the lead for the remainder of the game.
