UTICA, NY –After a scoreless first half, the Utica College Pioneers scored four goals in the second period to defeat the visiting Houghton College Highlanders, 4-1.
The Pioneers opened the final 35 minutes with a flurry, posting the first goal of the game only 21 seconds after the opening touch, and scoring three more times within the next 13 minutes.
While the Highlanders statistically kept pace with the Pioneers throughout, firing off 15 shots to Utica's 16 shots, they could not find the back of the cage until the 70
th minute when Sydney James scored her first goal of the season on a pass from
Hannah Daniels.
