HOUGHTON, NY – The Highlanders gave up two early goals before
Paul Chapman stuck one in the net for Houghton. However, Ohio Northern came right back with a high powered attack, taking a 5-1 at the end of the 1st quarter.
Houghton traded goals with ONU in the first 9 minutes of the 2nd quarter with Chapman netting 2 more goals to keep it close at 7-3 with 6:48 to play in the half.
ONU matched its 1st quarter total with 5 goals in the 2nd quarter taking a 10-3 lead into the half. They then outscored the Highlanders 7-1 in the 3rd quarter. The only Houghton strike in the 3rd quarter came from
Cole Chapman off of a Sam Pyo assist. Ohio Northern chipped on 5 more goals in the 4th quarter to win 22-4.
ONU outshot the Highlanders, 64-8, on the day.
Jorge Medina stopped 17 shots for Houghton.
Houghton hits the turf again when they host Medaille College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
