HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Highlanders won, 70-60, in women's basketball action Tuesday night against Buffalo State.
Tuesday night was a night of threes.
Brittany Lenart shot 57.1% from behind the arch, collecting 18 points to lead the Highlanders.
With 15 points on the night,
Emily Swanson collected her third highest career point total.
Madison Detwiler chipped in 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds, helping the Highlanders to their first win of the season.

Houghton played an impressive all-around game in Tuesday night showdown against a very disciplined Buffalo State program. The first half went back and forth with the Highlanders down as many as four points at the 4:04 mark of the first quarter. The four-point deficit did not last long as the Highlander fought to tie the ball game twice, ending the first quarter tied, 17-17.
It was not too long into the second quarter when the Highlanders gained the lead over the Bengals. Houghton led by as many as 4 points late into the quarter. Buffalo State did find the lead again and ended the second quarter, 33-30.
Overcoming a three-point deficit, it was not until the second half that the Highlanders stuck it to the Bengals. The Highlanders went on an impressive 20-7 run, leading by 10 points at the end of the third quarter. Limiting the Bengals to only seven points in the quarter is what helped the Highlanders come out victorious in the end.
