Volleyball Gels, Takes Two on Day Two of Wells Invitational

AURORA, N.Y. – Following two frustrating matches earlier this week, in which the Highlanders took the first set yet lost in four, Houghton turned the tables Saturday in two total team efforts.
 
In the morning opener against the University of Maine-Fort Kent, the Highlanders dropped a close first set, 23-25, before taking the next three sets from the Bengals.
 
Houghton maintained the momentum as the headed into the afternoon match against Summit University, sweeping the Defenders, 3-0, and improving their overall record to 4-2.

Key Stats
>> Naomi Prentice racked up an impressive 20 kills and four blocks in the first match, then added seven more kills and another block in the nightcap.
>> Erica Barney posted 10 kills, 23 digs and three blocks in the opener, then added six kills and eight digs in game-two.
>> Anna Coryell dished out 56 assists (36 and 20) over the two matches and added 10 aces.
>>Alicia Needham also totaled 11 kills and four blocks and Rebekah White added 31 digs over the two matches.
