HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton men's lacrosse closed out its conference schedule with a 21-3 loss to cross-county rival Alfred University on Wednesday.
The loss dropped the Highlanders to 3-12 on the campaign and 0-8 in E8 action. The Saxons improved to 10-4 and 4-3.
Alfred scored the game's first nine goals before
Joshua Bailey (Millerton, PA, Williamson) scored with 7:31 left in the first half. The visitors added four more goals, while the Highlanders got another from
Paul Chapman (Kemptville, ON, Canada, North Grenville District), before the first half ended.
The Saxons opened the second half with five-straight scores.
Cole Chapman (Kemptville, ON, Canada, North Grenville District) scored with 11:51 left in the fourth, before the Saxons finished the scoring with three-straight tallies.
Alfred had a 56-17 advantage in shots, won 21 of 27 faceoffs, and held a 48-26 edge in groundballs.
Christopher Bucciarelli (Horseheads, NY, Horseheads) finished with 18 saves in net.
Houghton closes out its season on Saturday when they host SUNY Canton in a 2 p.m contest.
