ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Houghton's treacherous ride through the rough waters of Empire 8 men's lacrosse continued at Nazareth on Tuesday as the NCAA No. 19 Golden Flyers beat the Highlanders 25-1.
The hosts jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead and outshot the Highlanders 63-8 on the afternoon.
Paul Chapman (Kemptville, ON, Canada, North Grenville District) scored Houghton's goal off an assist from his brother
Cole Chapman (Kemptville, ON, Canada, North Grenville District) in the third quarter. It was the first Houghton goal against Nazareth after two shutout losses the past two seasons.
Nazareth (11-3; 6-1 E8) also had a 57-15 advantage in groundballs and won 25 of 29 faceoffs.
Christopher Bucciarelli (Horseheads, NY, Horseheads) made 13 saves in net.
Houghton (3-10; 0-6 E8) returns home to host Hartwick College in another E8 tilt on Friday, April 22 at 7 p.m.
