BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Chapman brothers combined for six goals in Houghton's 9-4 men's lacrosse win over Medaille on Wednesday.
After the Mavericks scored the game's first goal,
Cole Chapman (Kemptville, ON, Canada, North Grenville District) got the Highlanders on the board. Another Medaille goal was followed by the first of the game for
Paul Chapman (Kemptville, ON, Canada, North Grenville District) and another from Cole to give the Highlanders a 3-2 lead at the half.
Houghton scored four-straight to start the third quarter, with Paul Chapman and
Jared Limbeck (Victor, NY, Victor ) splitting the scores. Medaille scored the final goal of the third quarter to make the score 7-3 in favor of the Highlanders.
Cole Chapman and
Bryce Bellan (Medina, NY, Medina) each scored in the fourth quarter as the Highlanders outscored the Mavericks, 2-1.
Paul Chapman and
Joshua Bailey (Millerton, PA, Williamson) led the Highlanders with five groundballs apiece.
Nathan Moore (Kane, PA, Kane) went 10-for-17 in the faceoff circle.
The teams each recorded 35 shots and Medaille had a 40-39 edge in groundballs.
Christopher Bucciarelli (Horseheads, NY, Horseheads) made 13 saves in goal.
Houghton (3-8 overall) returns to action in a tough E8 road matchup vs. Ithaca on Saturday, April 16.
