HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Elle Reed scored nine points in the final three minutes, leading the Houghton Highlanders on a 14-2 surge past the visiting Pitt-Bradford Panthers, 70-59.
 
Reed would finish the night with a team-high 21 points, 16 of which came in the second half.  Her most impressive work, though, came in the fourth quarter.  In the final period Reed collected 12 points, sinking all four shots she took from the floor, including three from beyond the arch and converted a three-point play.

Key Moments
>> Midway through the first quarter the Panthers appeared in control of the game, building a 15-5 lead.  Back-to-back threes by Brittany Lenart and Leslie Moose pulled the Highlanders back into the game, and a three by Reed moments later pulled Houghton within one.
 
>> The two teams battled back-and-forth throughout the second quarter.  With Pitt-Brad leading by one with a minute and a half to play, Moose sank a layup to give the Highlanders the lead, and Hannah Manwaring drained a three to put Houghton up by four heading into the break.
 
>> In the third, the Panthers regained the lead and pulled ahead by as many as six with only a minute to play.  A pair of Reed free throws and a three by Lenart, however, brought Houghton back within one heading into the final period.

>> Houghton shot 45.5 percent from the floor (25-55), including 48 percent (13-27) from three-point land.  They also sank seven of 10 from the free throw line.

>> The Highlanders overcame 25 turnovers with their sharp shooting.  The Panthers, who committed only 12 turnovers, shot only 32 percent from the floor and visited the foul line only four times, all in the first half.

>> Moose posted her first double-double of the season, collecting 16 points and 11 rebounds for Houghton.  Manwaring also added 11 points and nine boards.

>> Ali Rinfrette scored a game-high 24 points for the Panthers.  Early in the second quarter she surpassed the 1,000 point mark for her career on a layup.
