Late Push Falls Short Against St. John Fisher

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – After taking a 13 point lead into the locker room St. John Fisher exploded for 33 points in the third quarter, bumping their lead to 30 points heading into the final quarter. 
 
While the Houghton Highlanders fought back in the fourth, outscoring the Cardinals 20-13, the deficit proved insurmountable, and Fisher picked up the victory, 83-60.

The Highlanders:
      >Elle Reed (Sherman, NY, Sherman Central School) scored 19 points and Hannah Manwaring (Barton, NY, Tioga Central HS) added 12 points and seven rebounds. 
      >Madison Detwiler (Williamsburg, PA, Williamsburg HS) tied her career high with 13 points, going 9-10 from the free throw line, and bringing down six boards.
 
The Cardinals:
      >Mary Kate Cusack and Erin Hulbert scored 20 and 15 points, respectively.
      >Emily Piacentini added 12 points and five assists.
       
Stat Analysis:
      >The Cardinals outshot the Highlanders by nearly 20 percentage points in the first half.  While the second half proved much closer with Fisher hitting just over 42 percent of their shots and the Highlanders converting on 40 percent.
      >Fisher held advantages in points off turnovers (19-10), bench points (38-22), rebounds (43-34) and points in the paint (42-20).
