Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Strong First Quarter Propels Ithaca past Houghton

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Ithaca College jumped out to a 25-5 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, thanks in large part to some spectacular long-range shooting and high-pressure defense.

The Bombers drained seven of 12 from three-point range in the first half and took advantage of a Houghton offense that sank less than 19 percent of its shots, taking a 25 point advantage into the break.

To their credit, Houghton never quit, battling hard throughout the entire game.  In the second half the Highlanders hit nearly 43 percent of their shots, playing nearly even with their opponents, but the damage had been done, and they never drew closer than 24 points in the remainder of the game.
