BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Four players registered hat tricks as Houghton women's lacrosse snared a 17-2 win at Hilbert College on Wednesday.
Houghton improved to 5-5 on the season with the win.
The Highlanders scored the game's first eight goals over a 13-minute span to start the game. Meghan Oswald, Tyler Reese and Jenny Zacchigna each scored twice during the run, with Ashley Popp and Chandler Jones also finding the back of the net. Hilbert got on the board with 15:28 to go in the half, before the visitors tallied four more goals, with Jones and Zacchigna each scoring and Elizabeth Westwood and Bethany Kuiken scoring one apiece.Â
Hilbert scored with 4:05 left in the half, but Westwood scored two more to give the Highlanders a 14-1 lead at the break.Â
The Highlanders would score three more times in the second half, with Oswald scoring twice and Reese adding her third of the game.
Houghton held a 38-13 advantage in shots and had a 25-17 edge in shots on goal.
Oswald led all scorers with four goals, while adding six draw controls. Reese, Zacchigna and Westwood each scored three goals. Jones added two goals and six assists.
Kourtnie Franklin made six stops in net.
The Highlanders are back in action on Saturday, April 11 in an E8 matchup with Hartwick at Burke Field.
