The Houghton College men's lacrosse team lost 22-4 against the St. John Fisher Cardinals Wednesday at the Kerr-Pegula Athletic Complex.
The Cardinals scored eight goals in the first and held the Highlander scoreless to take an 8-0 lead.
In the second quarter the Highlanders finally got on the board with 3:09 left in the first half.
Paul Chapman (Kemptville, ON, Canada, North Greenville District High School) took on two Cardinal defenders and beat the goaltender with a one handed shot to make the score 13-1.
The Highlanders scored another when
Cameron Groff (Jasper, NY , Jasper Troupsburgh HS) netted an unassisted goal with 42 seconds left in the first half. The goal was Groff's first of the season.
The Cardinals went into the half with a commanding 14-2 lead.
The Cardinals came out at the half and continued to dominate scoring four goals to start off the third.
The Highlanders scored a power play goal with 2:27 left in the third when
Sean Daigler (Elma, NY , Iroquois High School) found the back of the net to make the score 18-3.
In the fourth quarter the Highlanders defense stepped up and held the Cardinals to just three goals and scored one of their own when
Josh Bailey (Millerton, PA , Williamson High SSchool ) scored an unassisted goal with 8:23 left in the game to make the score 20-4.
The men's lacrosse team is back in action Saturday when they take on Stevens Institute of Technology at 1 p.m. at Burke Field. Â Â
