Earlier today the Highlanders baseball team earned a 6-3 win against the Capital University Crusaders in Auburndale, Florida.
The Highlanders started the scoring with an RBI single by
Christopher McKay (Oakville, ON, Canada) in the top of the 1
st inning. Mckay ended the game 2 for 4 with two singles, a walk and 2 RBI's. Â The Highlanders scored another run in the inning and added 2 more in the third to give them a commanding 4-0 lead.
After a scoreless fourth and fifth inning for the Highlanders the Crusaders put up 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth against freshman pitcher
Victor Cavalieri (Rochester, NY). Â In Cavalieri's college pitching debut he pitched 4.2 innings giving up only 3 earned runs and earning his first collegiate win.
In the top of the sixth the Highlanders responded to the 3 run inning by the Crusaders and put up two more runs for insurance.
From there relief pitchers
Kyle Flemington (Burlington, ON, Canada) and
Chad Muise (Brantford, ON, Canada) came in and shut down the Crusaders. Flemington went 2.1 innings giving up zero runs and only 1 hit. C, Muise got the call in the eighth and ninth innings. He pitched 2 scoreless innings and was credited with the save.
