The Highlanders baseball team split in the doubleheader against Alma College Scots today in Winter Haven, Florida.
In game one the Scots came out swinging and scored 4 runs in the top of the first.
After a scoreless second inning the Highlanders got on the board with
Michael Knapp (Brockport, NY) and
Trenton Unverdorben (Portville, NY) singles in the bottom of the third. The RBI singles put the Highanders within one run and the momentum.
In the fourth and fifth innings the Scots took over and scored 6 runs on the Highlander pitching and held on for a 10-3 victory.
In game two the Highlanders jumped out to an early 1 run lead in the first inning on
Michael Kerr (Brentwood, TN) RBI single. The Highlanders continued to manufacture runs and were led by
Patrick Parsons (Wellsboro, PA) who went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a single. Â
The Highlanders had a commanding lead when the Scots came back scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 7-3.
Then
Seth Cornell (Almond, NY) shut the door on the Scots. Pitching three scoreless innings and giving the Highlanders a 7-3 win. Seth pitched 7 innings only allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 8 of the Alma batters.
The Highlanders finish up their spring trip on Saturday against Lyndon State College.Â
