Highlanders Lose in the Bottom of the Ninth

The Highlanders baseball team squared off against the Hanover College Panthers today in Winter Haven, Florida.

The Highlanders held the Panthers scoreless through 6 innings with good defense and a great pitching performance by Kevin Cassar (Mississauga, ON, Canada). Cassar pitched all 9 innings only allowing 3 earned runs and 9 hits.

The Panthers tied the game up at 1 in the bottom of the seventh, but the Highlanders regained the lead in the top of the eighth with Michael Knapp's (Brockport, NY) RBI single. Knapp ended the day going 3 for 4 at the plate and hitting in both of the Highlanders' runs.

The Panthers came back though. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth the Panthers stung together 3 singles, which led to 2 runs scoring and a 3-2 loss for the Highlanders.
